1. Overview

Legends claim Dellesis himself resides here, ruling in person, the only Vice to remain in Staterum following the end of the Age of Darkness (AoD). As such these lands are known as a forsaken region shrouded in fear and dread. Comprised of two desolate landmasses, Ignavus to the north and Tartarus to the south, the islands serve as a grim testament to the Devil Dellesis’ dominion over cowardice, fear, and isolation. The Craven Lord, has shaped these islands into a perpetual prison, a place where the concept of hope has been extinguished and survival is measured only in despair.

2. Regions

  • Ignavus (Northern Island): Enclosed by massive, towering walls that defy logic and reason, Ignavus is a nightmarish realm of endless labor and torment. The land inside the walls is barren, stripped of anything resembling nature, with sprawling, industrial fortifications dominating the landscape
  • Tartarus (Southern Island): Tartarus is a stark contrast to Ignavus yet equally merciless. A thoroughly barren land, exiles from Ignavus are cast out here to live what painful moments remain in isolation, exposed to howling winds and biting cold.

3. Description

Dellesis’ Islands are a haunting reflection of their master’s dominion, where even the land seems to echo the despair and fear sown by the Craven Lord. To the north Ignavus stands as a land of iron and stone, dominated by the monolithic walls encircling it. These walls, impossibly tall and fortified, are said to have been constructed by the enslaved survivors of Dellesis’ arrival, with continual reinforcement demanded of their descendants. The interior is a labyrinthine nightmare of industrial fortifications, fiery pits, and rivers of molten rock that snake through the desolate terrain. The air is heavy with ash and the acrid scent of sulfur, creating an atmosphere as suffocating as the fear that grips its inhabitants. Minions of Dellesis patrol every corner, their presence ensuring that no soul can escape, while the cries of the enslaved reverberate through the metallic halls and stone corridors. Any sign of nature has long been eradicated, replaced by mechanical horrors and ceaseless toil.

To the south Tartarus is an equally desolate landscape but of a vastly different nature. The southern expanse is a wasteland of snow and ice, where temperatures plummet to deadly lows, and jagged glaciers tower over the barren plains. The northern half of the island transitions to an arid, cracked wasteland, devoid of life and hope alike. Tartarus is where the unworthy or rebellious are exiled, those deemed too dangerous or undesirable for Ignavus’ rigid control. Here, there are no walls, for none are needed. The land itself acts as a prison, with its inhospitable conditions ensuring that few survive more than a handful of days. Even those who might endure the biting winds or barren land eventually succumb to starvation or madness, isolated from any semblance of life.

Before the Age of Darkness, the twin islands of Ignavus and Tartarus, then known as Langyu and Snaeland, were flourishing regions in their own right. While the northern island boasted lush forests and rolling hills, the southern island was marked by its rugged terrain and unique biodiversity. Together, they supported thriving cultures and a wide array of species, each uniquely adapted to the islands’ conditions.

When the Age of Darkness began, Dellesis claimed the islands as his dominion. His arrival was swift and merciless; the cultures, ecosystems, and civilizations that once called the islands home were obliterated seemingly overnight. Those who survived the initial onslaught were enslaved, their descendants now comprising the wretched labor force of Ignavus. Over the centuries, Dellesis’ realm became a prison not only for the unfortunate descendants of the original inhabitants, but for the souls of mortals corrupted through his influence from across Staterum. These islands now stand as a manifestation of the realm of Void made physical within Staterum.
