Aquarians, revered denizens of the deep, are believed to have emerged from the union of Ooscie’s children and humans early in the history of Staterum. They possess a striking appearance, with bodies that blend the features of marine creatures, supported by humanoid forms that allow them to navigate both their underwater realm and the land above.
These proud beings predominantly make their homes along the Coral Coast off the western shores of Western Kair’Thear, within the grand underwater city of Corallos. Built to mirror the coastline above, this sprawling metropolis showcases intricate coral architectures and vibrant marine gardens that pulse with the life of the ocean.
Aquarians live in harmonious clans, each reflecting the aspects of the sea creature they resemble, swift and sociable Cetacians, cunning and agile Piscarians, fierce and powerful Selachians, and the enigmatic clans of the rarer species, like the resourceful octopi or the armored crabkin. Together, they foster a society rich in tradition and connected by a shared reverence for the oceanic world.
The Age of Darkness (AoD) was a harrowing time for the Aquarians. Monstrous creatures and demonic forces surged from the deepest trenches, ravaging their cities and corrupting the once-pure waters around them. In the wake of this devastation, the Aquarians’ innate isolationism was challenged, pushing them to forge new alliances with the land-based races, a notion once as foreign as the dry lands themselves.
Now, as they endeavor to rebuild Corallos and their other sanctuaries, some Aquarians find themselves drawn out of the sea’s embrace. These individuals, whether driven by necessity or curiosity, traverse beyond their aquatic borders, seeking alliances, knowledge, and resources to restore their people’s former glory. Their journey often leads them into the heart of Kair’Thear’s politics and conflicts, where their unique abilities are both a rare gift and a bridge between land and sea.
Though far from the underwater cities of their birth, these Aquarians carry the currents of their culture with them. Their presence in the world above is a testament to their resilience and a beacon of hope for a harmonious future between the sea and the surface. With each new alliance forged, the Aquarians weave the strength of the ocean into the fabric of Kair’Thear.
