Background

Virag Greytail’s story begins in the vibrant capital of Tanglethorn, amid its dense jungle foliage and chaotic city life. As a young Ratfolk, he was drawn to the energy and complexity of his surroundings, fostering a sense of exploration and curiosity. The bustling streets and interconnected districts of Tanglethorn provided a perfect training ground for a young warrior. Virag’s impressive physique and innate leadership qualities quickly caught the attention of the local militia. His training there not only sharpened his skills but also deepened his sense of justice and dedication.

During his training and early adulthood, Virag developed a close bond with future wife Lilia Greytail, his childhood friend, whose companionship and wisdom became his guiding light. Following their union, Virag found himself a father, further influencing his priorities, driving him to strive for a safer and just world for his offspring and future generations of Ratfolk.

However, Virag’s career as a travelling guard and later as a founder of the Rat Pack took him beyond the borders of Tanglethorn, exposing him to broader world issues, including the deep-seated prejudices against Ratfolk. These experiences fueled his determination to make a difference, not just within his community but on a larger scale.

After years of adventure and establishing the Rat Pack as a symbol of Ratfolk valor, Virag accepted a critical mission from the Ascended Church, aiming to bridge relations. Unfortunately, it was a trap set by an extremist sect, leading to a brutal attack that left him severely injured and on the brink of death. Miraculously Virag survived, a cleric of Eris finding him against seemingly impossible odds. This incident drove Virag into a premature retirement, settling in the very city he help found, Furrowton.

During his long recovery, Virag grappled with his physical limitations and the impact of his prolonged absences on his family. As he healed, the mystery of his survival and a renewed sense of injustice rekindled his adventurous spirit. With his family grown and forging their own paths, Virag felt the pull of the road once again. This time, his journey was fueled by a desire to uncover the truth behind Eris’ sacrifice and the lingering shadows of the Age of Darkness (AoD).
