1. Overview

The Truth Bound, formally known as Quawerah’s Truth Bound, are an elusive and enigmatic order said to be the sole custodians of Staterum’s complete history—stretching from the time before creation, through the rise of the gods, to the present day. They are said to have been directly charged by Quawerah, to preserve the entirety of truth, untainted by bias, revision, or erasure.

In the current age, they exist largely in hiding. Only rare sightings of solitary wanderers, cloaked scribes, or travelling storytellers are ever reported, often sharing tales and parables. To many, the Truth Bound are little more than a myth. To others, they are a dangerous threat, for knowledge can topple kingdoms as surely as armies.

3. Structure & Organization

Though much about the Truth Bound is uncertain, those who claim to have encountered them describe three distinct roles within the order:

  • The Archivists – Rarely, if ever, seen. Believed to dwell in hidden repositories where the great records are stored and maintained. Wanderers occasionally speak of them as custodians of knowledge too vast for one mind to bear.
  • The Wanderers – The most commonly known faces of the Truth Bound. Nomads and storytellers, they travel the roads of Staterum gathering tales both great and small. They are said to record everything from the fall of kings to the simple story of a farmer’s harvest. It is through their fireside tales that most mortals ever glimpse the order.
  • The Stewards – Shadowy protectors who appear only when Wanderers are endangered. They are elusive, vanishing as swiftly as they arrive, but stories tell of their terrifying resolve when forced into combat. They favour escaping with the endangered wanderer over slaughter, yet foes who press them too far rarely live to tell the tale.

4. Culture & Practices

The Truth Bound live simple, nomadic lives, defined by the act of recording and remembering. To them, every story matters—whether the tale of a god’s triumph or the passing words of a dying soldier. They believe truth is preserved not only in parchment, but in memory and voice.

Storytelling lies at the heart of their culture. Wanderers are renowned for gathering travellers around the fire, recounting stories with such precision that listeners swear they glimpse the events themselves. Tales are passed carefully from elder to novice, ensuring that every detail endures across generations.

Their mysterious nature fuels endless speculation. Some claim the same wanderer has been seen in distant corners of Staterum on the same night. Others note how Wanderers disappear in the night once their stories come to an end, vanishing without a trace save for the echo of their stories.

The Truth Bound avoid luxury, politics, and earthly ambition, devoting themselves instead to the eternal memory of Staterum. They are patient observers, believing it their sacred duty to record what is, not to interfere in what should be.
