At the heart of the island stands Fort Vigil, weathered by time and the elements, which offers a panoramic view of the surrounding sea and coastline. The island’s coastline is dotted with tide pools and hidden coves. The air is often filled with the cries of seabirds, and the sound of waves crashing against the rocks creates a constant, rhythmic backdrop.

History:

The history of Watcher’s Isle is closely tied to Portum’s strategic and maritime past. The island served as a critical lookout point for early settlers and traders, providing an early warning system against potential threats from the sea. During the Age of Darkness (AoD), Fort Vigil played a vital role in defending the region against naval incursions and pirate attacks. Watcher’s Isle was the last of Portum’s islands to be abandoned to the ocean during the AoD. As oceanic travel become too perilous, largely due to the menace known as the Demon of the Seagate.

Known as the Demon of the Seagate, this malevolent creature harasses any attempt to re-establish sea trade. According to the tale, the demon has now taken residence within Fort Vigil, using the abandoned fort as its lair. Another popular legend tells of the lost treasure of Watcher’s Isle. It is believed that during one of the many battles that took place around the island, the local forces defeated a notorious pirate captain. Unwilling to surrender their hard fought plunder looted from the pirates, the guards hide the treasure in one of the Isle’s many caves, planning to return to claim it after their service was completed.
